About Beas Kund Trek

The Beas Kund, which is regarded as a holy lake is located in the Kullu Valley and is the original source of River Beas. It is believed that Rishi Vyas used to take his daily bath in the pristine water of this lake that is perched at an altitude of 3,650 meters in the lap of Mt. Hanuman Tibba and Seven Sisters. Snaking and passing through the Solang valley the trail to Beas Kund offers a rejuvenating experience and the journey is filled with several surprises at each turn. The Beas Kund Trek, which is considered as one of the easiest treks in the Himachal Himalayan region is also a short trek of three days from the popular hill station of Manali that is tucked at a height of 2,050 meters.

Beas Kund Trek

The Beas Kund Trek commences from Manali and leads to Dhundi at 3,150 meters via Solang Nallah. The trail faces a gradual climb from Solang Nallah and it takes approximately 5 – 6 hours. The route from Dhundi winds upward to Bakarthach, which is at an elevation of 3,300 meters and leads to Beas Kund after a gradual climb over the moraine.

The best time for Beas Kund Trek is between Mid-May and Mid-October. The weather remains quite salubrious making the trek easy and ofcourse thrilling.

Where is the Beas Kund Trek ?

Beas Kund is nestled amidst the Dhauladhar Range in Himachal Pradesh. The Kund is at a distance of 3kms from the meadows of Bakar Thach.

How to Reach Beas Kund Trek ?

By Air:The trek begins at Manali, and the nearest airport to Manacle is at Bhuntar Town (about 50 km south of Manali and 10 km south of Kullu town). Indian Airlines and a couple of private airlines have regular flights to the airport. The nearest international airport from Manali is at Chandigarh.

By Rail:Jogindar Nagar is the nearest railway station from Manacle, which is situated at a distance of 166kms. The other convenient rail heads are at Chandigarh and Pathankot.

By Road:Manali is well connected by road with major North Indian cities such as Delhi, Ambala, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Haridwar, Shimla, Dharamsala and Chamba/Dalhousie. Regular buses ply between these stations.

Beas Kund Trek (Detailed Itinerary)

Day 01: Delhi – Manali

In the evening drive to Manali by AC Volvo coach. Overnight journey.

Day 02: Manali – Solang Nallah – Dhundi (3150 mts/10332 ft)

Arrival at Manali in the morning. Upon arrival, our representative will help you transfer to hotel for relaxation and acclimatization. Later drive, we shall drive to Solang Nallah and from here trek to Dhundi. Pitch our camp for overnight stay at Dhundi.

Day 03: Dhundi – Bakarthach (3300 mts/10824 ft) 3 hrs

Today, we will gradually trek to the valley, and later camp at the scenic Bakarthach. Dinner and overnight stay in the camp.

Day 04: Bakarthach – Beas Kund (3650 mts/11972 ft) – Bakarthach 5 hrs

Post breakfast, we shall trek over moraine to Beas Kund. After spending some time here, we will trek back to the camp. Overight stay at the camp at Bakarthach

Day 05: Bakarthach – Dhundi – Manali 3 hrs – Delhi

Today, we shall trek to Dhundi and from here will drive to Manali to catch the AC Volvo coach for Delhi at 16:30 hrs.

Day 06: Delhi

Arrival at Delhi in the morning.
